Nice stuff, Shorty, but I'm not in the market for either right now. Would love to plug into that Marshall for a few minutes though just to see how loud it will go.

Side bar: I've been getting more and more into my side hobby - luthiering/hardware relicing/guitar building, etc. My next project is already coming together. This one is going to be new/pretty (i.e. not aging or relicing of anything). I bought a 3 color sunburst (vintage NITRO finish) American Fender Telecaster body (new), off eBay, and a top-of-the-line Fender-licensed maple neck (also new) with vintage finish and rosewood fingerboard. My parts supplier has a Tele hardware package available (Kluson tuners, Fender bridge, Kent Armstrong pups, etc) in either silver (usually my preference) or gold, but I haven't decided which I'm going to go yet. Total parts budget about $450 and once I've assembled it, the guitar will be virtually identical to an new American Standard Tele that would cost $1k or more. I'm planning to try to sell it on EBay - assuming I don't get as attached to it as I have the first 2 major guitar projects that I've completed - and though it wouldn't really be enough cash to offsetting the value of my time (what can I say, I LIKE doing this stuff), I'm hoping I can find a buyer in the $600 range. I'll keep you posted with the progress. BD

For reference, this is sorta what it will look like, but the headstock and back of neck finish will be that vintage butterscothy color and I think I'll end up putting a vintage mint-green WBW 3 ply pickguard on it (not literally mint green, the slightly greenish looking "white" that Fender used to use back in the day. Should be pretty cool looking...

No, I didn't. But that guitar and amp would cost me around 800-850 brand new, so 500+shipping isn't cheap enough for me to rationalize spending money on it instead of paying down student loans.

well i might do free shipping so $500 even would get you both.

also the amp goes way louder than you would think. and when you crank up both gains it is surprisingly thick and distortiony and metally. it really does sound like a marshall.

Sounds like a great deal to me, especially for and Ovation (not an applause) and a Marshall. I've got an Ovation mandolin and it was $400+ new.

Also guys, if you haven't shipped anything like this, I can attest to the fact there are HUGE differences in costs depending on who you use and how it gets there. OK, that's obvious, but even in the small guitar parts I've been shipping - like tuners (in the original box) or bridges, UPS ground is 50% MORE than USPS PRIORITY Mail. And USPS gives you the box for free. Whenever I get around to shipping my next guitar, I'm going to both do Internet research and check with the boys at Guitar Center. They obviously ship this shit daily and if you point out how much business you've done with them thru the years, they've ALWAYS been open to discount pricing or a little help hear and there....
