Re: For sale: Ovation celebrity & Marshall micro
Dunno, I'll have to tell you Monday. Had it delivered to my parents' house because nobody would be home at my apt and it would have gotten ganked off my porch twenny minutes after delivery.
Though it sat on their porch for a few hours until I told them to check because you didn't require a signature. No worries though, they live in a good part of town. I'll try to record me playing something on it this so you can live vicarioiusly through me.

Re: For sale: Ovation celebrity & Marshall micro
Got to play it a bit today. Sounds awesome! The head stock is going to take a little getting used to when playing certain chords (it comes further down towards the neck than I'm used to) but I should be able to cope ok.
Hopefully I won't have to work tomorrow evening after getting home from work so I'll have more time to play it. Thanks shorty!

Re: For sale: Ovation celebrity & Marshall micro
Also, this amp entirely kicks the shit out of the POS bass amp I've been using. Still trying to get the sound I want out of it when i've got the strat and distortion plugged in. What's the difference between the two gain dials?

Re: For sale: Ovation celebrity & Marshall micro
just fyi you're asking guitar advice from a drummer i found that one of them is more distortiony than the other. when trying to get a clean tone take gain2 to about 5 and dial-in gain1. adjust from there. or maybe vice versa. what pedal are you plugging in? |

Re: For sale: Ovation celebrity & Marshall micro
I'm asking equipment advice. I know how to play a guitar just fine. The electronics part I never learned really. I have a lot of trouble finding a tone that works well. I don't know how much it would be helped if I understood equilization better or if people generally just fuck around with knobs at random until they find something they like.

Re: For sale: Ovation celebrity & Marshall micro
Pull the mids down and the ends up. Not rocket science. Play with the gains, but IMO it's easy to do too much gain. Let your guitar tone settings and effects control the rest. When you find somethin' you like, make a note of it... |

Re: For sale: Ovation celebrity & Marshall micro
Mids are down on the pedal. Had to figure out the contour knob on the amp. It controls the mids, but not in a strictly up or down manner.
I think my biggest problem at the moment is that the pickups on the guitar I'm using are absolute garbage (it's a squire strat, so it's to be expected) so I get a lot of extra noise. I'd use my fat strat but I'm too lazy to put the heavy guage strings on it and adjust the truss rod. Plus I don't want to strip the bridge screws on it like I did on my squire. And shorty, you should say yes to the wah pedal too. That's a bad ass wah. Plugged in pre-distortion pedal so it gives a boost for lead purposes.
