SAN ANTONIO -- The Texas Department of State Health Services on Sunday announced that all 14 schools and district facilities in the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District will be closed effective immediately after several more flu-like illnesses have been discovered in the department's ongoing swine flu investigation.

The closure will be in effect for at least a week for 11,000 students and 1,400 district employees. All extracurricular activities also were cancelled.

The announcement comes one day after health officials announced the closure of Steele High School, where two students contracted the disease and a third case was pending.

First they promised SARS would kill everybody, and I was happy. Then I was let down. I think only 200 people worldwide died of it.
Next it was the Avian flu. That turned out to be a bust. It killed about 50 people. Mostly SE Asians who cooked their food over chicken shit.
So until the Swine flu starts getting a 99.999% kill rate, I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Meanwhile the plain old regular flu kills 50,000 a year.

I have a friend who is freaking the fuck out right now. To be fair, he actualy might have a legit reason to freak out.

He works sales for a company that sells IT solutions for medical records to Hospitals. He is on a plane daily, and going into half the Hospitals in the US to make a sales pitch. I must admit with as much possible exposure as he has, I would be a little wigged out too.
