A Honda Accord struck a palm tree, split in half and landed between two apartment buildings after it spun out of control during a drag race Sunday AND FLUNG A BEANER from the confines., police said.
Police found the vehicle at 48 W. Southern Avenue, ripped in half behind the front seats.
Witnesses followed a second vehicle involved in the race when it fled the scene, and it was later located by police near East Glade Avenue and South Hobson.

Witnesses told police they saw the driver run from the vehicle into a backyard at 449 E. Garnet Ave..
The driver, Carlos Araujo , 18 , was found by police hiding under a bed.
Witnesses told police it appeared that the two vehicles had been racing eastbound on West Southern Avenue prior to the accident, police reports said.
Adrian Mota, 18, the driver of the Accord, was taken to Scottsdale Medical Center where he was treated and released with a cut to the head and abrasions to the knees, police records said.
