Long story short, my dad was given this by a second cousin. It belonged to my great grandfather. Colt Army Special 38 made in 1914. It's in good condition (despite how it looks in the shitty quality pictures). I look forward to shooting it.

Revolver; double action; 32-20, 38 Spl., 41 Colt; 6-shot cylinder; 4-inch, 4-1/2-inch, 5-inch, 6-inch barrels; 9-1/4-inch overall length (4-inch barrel);
41-caliber frame; hard rubber grips; fixed sights; blued or nickel finish. Not safe for modern 38 Special high-velocity loads in guns chambered for that caliber.

Introduced 1908; dropped 1927.

My dad's already shot it. His cousin used to be a gun dealer and pointed him towards lower velocity ammo that he said is safe to use.

Put that thing in a display case. There are far better choices to go to the range and shoot.

It's like anything else - use the right ammo and don't be a dumbass and you'll be fine. Just the same, I don't expect it will get a whole lot of use.

On a similar subject, I'm finally getting around to getting a CHL. Getting the course and qualifying for free. Ran the qualifying course on Monday. Almost scary how easy it is.

Only heirloom gun I have. My grandfather's Colt National Match .45. Made in 1964 and good to shoot all day long.

I'll wind up inheriting two: The Colt, and a Walther PP .32 that my grandfather pulled off a (presumably) dead German during the war and brought back.

Never saw Alice Cooper. Tickets were too expensive considering I'm not a big fan.

However,

concert lineups are looking sweet here this summer. Getting tickets to see Slayer, Exodus, Testament, Suicidal Tendencies, Slipknot, Lamb of God, Rob Zombie, Def Leppard, and Styx. And it's not even March. Badass.
